Hi, I’m Nadine
Interior design expert, globetrotter and the creative mind behind this blog and NH.DESIGN.
I’m originally from Germany but have been living abroad for over 10 years, from Canada and the UK to Sweden.
Start with a neutral colour palette for a timeless home
The easiest way to create timeless interiors that you’ll enjoy for a long is to start with a neutral colour palette. It gives you the freedom to do whatever you want, change and refresh things as often as you like without being bound by specific colours or materials.
Be inspired by trends, don't copy them
Trends are great…to a certain extend. I’m not the biggest fan of following trends unless you really love something.
That’s why I always recommend my clients to take trends as an inspiration rather than copying them 1 to 1.
This will help you to create the timeless interior you’ll enjoy for a long time which in turn saves you tons of time and money.

Less (visual clutter) is more
To keep any interior looking fresh, clean and timeless, less is more. That goes for everything but especially decor. Too much decoration can easily become visually overwhelming and a cluttered look isn’t really timeless.
Focus on functionality to create a timeless interior
Functionality is key in any interior. If a space doesn’t function well for your needs and lifestyle it doesn’t matter how beautiful it is, you’ll still end up resenting it.
The trick to combining function and form is to make sure the pieces you need are beautiful.
An example: instead of buying your off-the-shelf coffee maker from any regular store, do a little research and find one that makes a visual statement. This way a functional piece sitting on your kitchen counter becomes a decorative object at the same time.
Pro Tip for timeless interiors: refresh, don't renovate
The importance of a timeless interior is that you can easily refresh it, whether that’s just for the seasons or to give it a completely different look. It costs a lot less money (and time) to refresh a space than to renovate it.
